Project Name:
Medical, health and nursing internship
Project Location:
Clínica Jerusalen, Southern Quito
Project Description:

Students of medicine (2nd year onwards), nursing, midwifery, and other health students, can gain valuable experience working with a range of specialists at the Clínica Jerusalen. The clinic provides quality medical attention at affordable prices to residents of the Southern Quito, with limited economic recourses. The clinic treats around 100 patients a day, providing surgery, hospitalization and 24 hours emergency attention.

Range of Tasks:
This depends highly on the volunteer’s medical experience and interests, but the clinic will put you with a doctor or nurse in your area of specialty to help them on their daily rounds and with seeing patients. It would be very hands on experience as you would be expected to carry out medical procedures that you are comfortable with doing.
Time Committment:
4 weeks
Skills required:

Students of medicine (or other health courses) must be in their 2nd year of medical school (US) or equivalent.

Because of the busy nature of the clinic, they would highly prefer volunteers who are already certified and professionals in medicine and nursing, but also accept students in their last years of medical school

Schedule:
To be arranged
The clinic would highly appreciate donations of medical equipment or other materials if possible.  Please contact Yanapuma for specific information on supplies that they need.
