Project Description: |
AmaZOOnico is a privately funded centre for rescued and confiscated wild animals from the Amazon region of Ecuador. It is open to the public for tours in order to provide education about these species, and their fate as illegal pets or trafficked animals. |
Range of Tasks: |
Assist with animal feeding and care, park maintenance and construction. Lead tours of people visiting the park, either in their native language, or Spanish, depending on their ability. Time is split around half/half between taking tours and animal care. Professional in the felids or veterinary science and biology or other related areas can assist with animal care and the more technical functions and of the rescue centre, and may be able to stay for shorter periods. |

Skills required: |
Working with AmaZOOnico is Selva Viva a jungle reserve where some animals that can survive unassisted can be released into the wild. Students and professional in relevant fields can develop thesis projects and research studies in conjunction with the organization. |
Schedule: |
7am to 5pm with a break for lunch. Two days off a week per a roster. |
Other: |
Volunteers cook collectively all meals expect for lunch Monday to Friday. |
